JAKARTA – Media menjadi salah satu sarana penyebaran informasi. Oleh sebab itu, setiap pengunggah bertanggung jawab terhadap isi konten yang ditulis di platform-nya sehingga tak menyesatkan pembaca.
Mengapa demikian? Sekarang ini dengan adanya UU ITE baru, pengguna tak bisa asal membuat bahkan menyebarkan informasi karena jika tak berhati-hati Anda bisa terseret ke ranah hukum. Hal ini mengingat, dalam revisi UU ITE pasal 27 ayat (3), terdapat penjelasan adanya unsur pidana yang mengacu pada ketentuan pencemaran nama baik dan fitnah yang diatur dalam KUHP, jeruji besi pun siap menanti.

Oleh sebab itu, kesadaran akan penggunaan sarana informasi penting untuk dimunculkan kepada pengguna agar nantinya tak membawa dampak buruk baginya.
Selain itu, menurut Chairman Mastel Institute, Nonot Harsono, etika pengguna media itu harus dijaga sehingga tidak menghina atau menuduh orang lain tanpa ada alasan yang tepat. Pasalnya, penyebar informasi itulah yang bakal terjerat hukum.
Hal senada juga dilontarkan oleh Henry Subiakto, staf ahli bidang hukum Kementerian Komunikasi dan Informatika Republik Indonesia (Kemenkominfo). Ia mengimbau pengguna media sosial untuk berhati-hati menyebarkan informasi.
“Jangan mudah men-share karena yang bisa dijerat UU ITE itu yang menyebarkan atau mendistribusikan. Masyarakat kan suka banget share, padahal yang di-share itu tentang tuduhan, hati-hati saat men-share,” katanya.
